Wi–Fi Terminology

Wi–Fi is a term used to describe a wireless local area network (WLAN) that uses high frequency radio waves to provide secure access to a network. It is used to connect computers, smartphones, tablets and other devices to the internet. MAC Address: A MAC address is a unique identifier assigned to each device connected to a network. It is used to identify the device and differentiate it from other devices in the network.

SSID: SSID stands for Service Set Identifier and is a unique identifier assigned to a wireless network. It is used to identify the network and differentiate it from other networks in the area.

WAP: WAP stands for Wireless Access Point and is a device responsible for receiving and transmitting wireless signals.

Wi–Fi Hotspot: A Wi–Fi hotspot is a public wireless network that provides access to the internet for free or for a fee. It is often found in public places such as airports, hotels, cafes and libraries.
